Well, basically...
In the future, a government facility called ParaGenetic creates these half human, half machine people called Partials. They fight and win a war for america. But then the Partials turn on the world and release a deadly virus called RM that wipes out almost the entire human race. 99.996 percent, to be exact. Now, as far as anyon eknows, the last of the human race, roughly 36,000 people, live on long island in america. The Partials seem to have disappeared. But RM isn't gone. It infects any baby born, and in the eleven years since RM was released, not a single human baby had lived more than three days. The youngest kids on the planet are fourteen. The humans are running out of time. If they don't find the cure for RM, they will all die. The main character is a sixteen year old medic, a nurse or doctor basically, named Kira Walker. And she takes it upon herself to find the cure. :D

Oooh, my god. This is way better than any dystopian book I've read, ever. And yeah, there's a bit of romance, but it isn't overpowering. Mostly, she's just 'MUST FIND CURE!!!!' and you barely even realize there's romance at all. I swear.

We'll seeee. I've been really into dark comedy/horror books lately.
But I haven't read anything since we had to start reading 1984 in English WHICH LET ME TELL YOU IS THE WOOOOOORST BOOK ON THE FACE OF THE PLANET I HATE GEORGE ORWELL MORE THAN ANYTHING -rant over-
But yeah I don't mind romance I guess, and sometimes it helps me get more attached to the characters because I'm like omg they belong togetherrrrrrrr and then when they break up (which only ever happens when I'm attached) I cry.
